A few important details about Rogoznica, Sibenik surroundings and their sights.
Convenient location, 34 kilometers south of Sibenik and just as much to Split airport, is not the only thing Rogoznica boasts. Cut deeply into the coast and thus protected from treacherous sea, is regarded as the safest port on the Adriatic. It is located just a few kilometers from the famous Primosten and with it shared a similar story about its origin. The mainland part of Kopac is settled in the 14th century to the nation from the Turks fled to neighboring small island Kopar in the 16th century. So today the heart Rogoznica house on an island which is a causeway to the mainland where they were scattered many cottages and villas. Apartment or room with sea view it is easy to find, as well as a berth in Rogoznica's marina, which is already more than a decade leader of the Croatian nautical tourism. Rogoznica, primarily means peace and relaxation. This is a place where you have always belonged to and where you will immediately feel part of the local population, either you welcome the fishermens when the morning bring them with fresh fish on the pier, or while you laying on the warm sand with the sound of the mistral. You will find Rogoznica bay like at palm of your hand when visiting Razanj, nearby village with no urban facilities, but with a famous diving school. One of the attractions in the vicinity of Rogoznica and the Dragon's Eye, salt lake connected to the sea cave Dragon's ear, which does not cease to intrigue divers and scientists and with that bind many mystical legends.
Sibenik rises halfway between Zadar and Split, 316 kilometers from Zagreb. First mentioned in 1066 in a document of King Petar Kresimir IV. This is the first time in history that a Croatian village called City. Since then, Sibenik and called Kresimir's city by the most famous Croatian king. In the 15th century falls within the 400-year rule of Venice, which leaves a mark on the cultural and monumental heritage, of which the most important is the cathedral of St. James carved in the 15. and the 16th century, which in 2000. was included in the UNESCO list of world cultural heritage. From 1797th to 1918th Sibenik, with the short-term rule of France, part of the Habsburg monarchy. Despite the long-term siege, the Turks never broke into Kresimir city, protected from everywhere medieval castle and ramparts. The city has four fortress that now enrich the concerts and other cultural events theirs magical antique ambience. Most picturesque fortress of St. Nicholas, which is afraid of monumentality invaders from the sea. Gigantic proportions and shape of the keyhole, similar to the towers in Malta and in Venice this means a door leading to one of the finest and strangest bay on the Adriatic coast. Sinuous channel leading to the city and river Krka estuary. Sibenik County has two national parks: Krka and Kornati. It is interesting that thanks to the famous Tesla, the Krka built the second oldest hydropower plant in the world, first in Europe, and is Sibenik became the first city in the world with alternating electric current, and the first in Croatia with public lighting.
